The Latest Updates to Google Trips

Since Google Trips debuted on the travel scene in fall 2016, travelers used the app to help them navigate planned and unplanned itineraries, both offline and online. The smart app makes suggestions for what to do and see in any given location based on the time of day, weather and your current location. Google Trips also pulls data from your Gmail to store important travel information like hotel and restaurant reservations or the time of your flight’s departure.

As of late April, Google Trips underwent an upgrade that includes three new features to improve the mobile app’s services. Users can now forward information and full itineraries to anyone in their e-mail lists, making it easy to share arrival times at airports or hotel addresses and phone numbers in the case of an emergency. If you find out you and one of your e-mail contacts will be visiting the same town at the same time, the app can automatically sync your two separate itineraries making it easy to connect in your destination.

Finally, the original version of the app was only able to pull and arrange flight, hotel and rental car reservations, but now Google Trips is equipped to help travelers plan train and bus travel, as well.

Google Trips is an easy-to-use tool for travelers who find themselves without an internet connection or data plan, but to get the most out of the app be sure to make at least some reservations (hotels, restaurants) in advance.
