Don’t think you’re not festive for not wanting to deck the halls with boughs of holly. There’s no need for miles of garland or strands of twinkle lights to show off your holiday spirit. If you’re looking for something a little more understand, try this minimalistic Christmas decor that says “Merry Christmas” while maintaining your sense of style.

A Less-Green Christmas Tree

Charlie Brown’s sad little Christmas tree may be seeing a little more popularity soon. More and more designers are opting for fake trees that are smaller, bare or barely green and don’t require hours to put together. You need fewer ornaments, it takes up less space, it doesn’t die and it doesn’t collect dust.

Easy DIY Centerpieces

You don’t have to go over the top to have a centerpiece even your mom will compliment. It’s as easy as filling a hurricane jar (or a few) with glass ornaments. You can go monochromatic, or mix and match colors to reflect the decor you already have.

A Half Wreath

Wreaths can be a little much, and if you don’t spend big dollars, you’re left with one that looks painfully cheap. Go for a half wreath this year, which matches minimalistic decor, but still boasts a little holiday fun.

Understated Ornaments

Even if you do opt for a traditional tree and want to fill it with ornaments, remember you don’t have to go with lots of sparkles, bright colors and Santas. You can easily cultivate a collection of ornaments that match your style, whether you make or buy them. Go for matte garland (like some cute pom-pom garland), origami ornaments or ornaments of all the same shape or color.

A Soft Glow

No need to break out the multicolored, LED Christmas lights. Brighten your home with artfully arranged candles or a single strand of white lights.
