Nomadic Audio Travel Speaker

If you want powerful speakers while you’re on the road, look no further than these products from Nomadic Audio.

The first is a powerful Bluetooth speaker that boasts two woofers and a tweeter offering great sound. The second is a custom suitcase in which the speaker can be mounted to further boost performance and make for easy packing.

It’s the first time I’ve seen a suitcase speaker on the market and, on paper, it seems like a decent idea. As the two products are built to work together, the speaker only takes up 4 percent of the internal volume of the bag. The bag itself is acoustically treated and designed to provide a significant boost to bass performance.

There are steel grilles to protect the speaker in the case, but some people might be worried about damaging the audio components in transit. To combat this, the company built in shock-absorbing components, but it would seem like a bit of a risk to put a speaker through rough treatment.

The speaker on its own will retail for $299, and the case will set you back $399. The first examples are set to ship in August 2018. Check out the Kickstarter campaign for more information.
