It’s not often you find a great company that produces quality products while also serving a noble mission. Oliberte does just that.

Oliberte bills itself as, “a sustainable lifestyle brand supporting worker’s rights.” It’s a unicorn among clothing industry companies, many of whom take advantage of cheap labor that follows questionable ethics and safety practices.

Oliberte employs workers in sub-Saharan Africa, one of the poorest parts of the world. It proudly does so to offer fair wages and humane working conditions. In 2013, the company became the world’s first Fair Trade Certified footwear manufacturing factory. Specifically, the products are made in Ethiopia, a fact proudly proclaimed on the bottoms of the shoes.

All this is impressive, but so are the products. The shoes are stylish and come in a range of styles: boots, moccasins, wedges, flats and sneakers. They’re made of suede and leather, and are impressively well made. Orders more than $99 in the United States and Canada receive free shipping.

Oliberte crafts shoes for men and women, and these are great products you can feel good about wearing for more reasons than their appearance.

How to Explore Neuschwanstein Castle

Most people know Neuschwanstein Castle as Walt Disney’s inspiration for both Cinderella’s and Sleeping Beauty’s castles, but it is also filled with history and stories from German royalty. In 1868, King Ludwig II began construction of the medieval-style castle to live in. Sadly, it wasn’t finished before he died, so the king never got to see the finished product. Today, the castle is privately owned, but travelers can still explore it on a guided audio tour.
