It’s hard for a restaurant to transition from simple eatery to destination. But San Francisco’s China Live restaurant and market managed to do just that, and right off the bat. The restaurant has been open only since March 2017, but it’s made quite a splash — and for good reason.
The multifaceted venture is part market, part restaurant. It’s a food hall and a dim sum palace, a marketplace and a bar, a flower and tea shop and a fine dining restaurant.
With all of these aspects, and with such a rabid following right out of the gate, the uninitiated visitor might be intimidated. But warm service from a helpful, patient staff willing to walk you through every aspect of the experience helps make it more accessible.
The food is simply fantastic, whether you come for a dim sum lunch among friends or a leisurely dinner. Dozens of employees work hard to fill, fold, steam, fry or boil scores of dumplings, alongside other outstanding modern Chinese dishes. Situate yourself at a table near one of the work stations so you can watch the magic unfold.

United Continues Its Global Expansion
