Reviews / Restaurant

I recently had dinner with friends at Miriam Restaurant in Brooklyn’s Park Slope neighborhood. The Israeli eatery delivers dishes with rich Mediterranean flavors. We arrived ahead of our reservation, but were still seated immediately.

The space feels both intimate and casual. Our group of six sat at a cozy table near the back of the restaurant. We ordered a bottle of red wine for the table while we perused the rest of the menu. Our friends dined at the restaurant before and offered some suggestions. My husband and I decided to split items from the mezze menu and one main course. The mezze options were $9 each, or three for $24, so we opted to order three. We choose the hummus, topped with warm chickpeas and hardboiled egg; meatballs with labeneh cheese, pomegranate sauce and pistachio; and the grilled eggplant salad with cucumbers and harissa. For our main course, we split the sea bass tagine with Israeli couscous, tomatoes and a turmeric curry lemon sauce. The mezze plates arrived first. Hungry, we devoured each of the items. Thankfully, we weren’t too full to enjoy the sea bass tagine — a standout dish. Served in a cast iron dish, the couscous absorbed the rich flavors of the lemon sauce and perfectly complemented the fish and tomatoes.

Both the service and authentic fare were impeccable at Miriam. The restaurant is a must if you’re in the Park Slope area.
