Argentinian canteen Moo is found on Brick Lane, a trendy road of bars, restaurants and curry houses in East London.
From the outside it looks like many of the other businesses on the street, with exposed wood and metal fittings. Inside, it’s cozy, with low lighting and Latin American music on the stereo. It was full on a Saturday night, with some tables eating and others just enjoying cocktails.
The bar is in fact a big attraction, with a long list of drinks. The food is a selection of Argentinian classics, from schnitzels with mashed potato to a selection of steaks via huge hot dogs known as “choripan.”
I ate a “choripan” and chips, which came with a great quality sausage and good sauces. The portion was big enough to fill you up, and at a fairly low price for this part of town. Estrella lager is on tap as well as an IPA, and there were Argentinian beers such as Quilmes available by the bottle.
Overall, it was a decent experience without being much to shout about. The “choripan” felt fairly authentic but the restaurant doesn’t go over the top in proving its Argentinian roots. Two beers and my meal came to $25.
