Straight out the gate, I feel I should warn you: SidArt is very expensive. However, it’s worth every penny.
My friend and I dined here at the suggestion of a local and it was one of the most delicious experiences I’ve had in a long time. We sampled the discovery, or tasting, menu with seven different courses and additional appetizers that showcase a little bit of everything coming out of the kitchen. There was nothing that wasn’t immensely satisfying.
In addition to the food, the waiter offered up great suggestions from their extensive wine list and he seemed to know what he was talking about because what we tried worked perfectly with the meal.
Truth be told the atmosphere is a little pretentious, but it’s a high-dollar restaurant and that’s kind of to be expected. The staff was professional and quick even though the place was busy. We were told it is almost always full. We also saw there was a chef’s table where you can watch and interact with the kitchen staff while they work, so that might be what we try when we return.
The entire course cost us more than $200 NZD, so be prepared to throw down some serious cash. SidArt is best reserved for a special night out with friends or if you want to impress a date.
