Review: Uludag Kebapcisi in Bursa, Turkey

Kebabs are definitely a staple in the Turkish diet and can be found in just about every restaurant in Bursa. Locals, however, insist the only place worth having one is at Uludag Kebapcisi. After dining here, I have to agree.

They’re specialty is iskender kebabs, essentially tiny bits of lamb basted with tomato sauce and mixed with pita bread. It sounds a little simple, but the flavor combination turned out to be incredibly satisfying.

The waitstaff was pleasant, inviting and happy to explain the food and offer up suggestions. The meal itself was a bit on the pricey side for what we got, but overall I think it was worth it. There are only two sizes from what I could gather, a regular portion and then the portion and a half. I definitely recommend the latter.

The atmosphere is nothing special, almost bland due to the simple décor. It’s cozy, though, and a great place to go and sit with a friend to chat over a meal. The restaurant is centrally located, making it easy to get to for a midday snack.

Uludag Kebapcisi is certainly a place I would be happy to return to in the future when the craving strikes and I’m happy to recommend it to friends.
