On my first trip to Canada, I was completely blown away with the view from Kelowna, British Columbia, to Osoyoos. On the drive, we passed miles of mountain ranges, lakes and lush green vineyards, making the two-hour ride feel like 20 minutes.
Passing over Osoyoos Lake, horseback riding trails and acres of vineyards, we officially arrived at our destination, Spirit Ridge Resort.
After a long day of travel and a rich dinner at the on-site restaurant Mica, I was looking forward to retreating to my room. Located in the Desert building, my lake-view suite was more like a small apartment.
Speeding pass a full kitchen on my left, bathroom to my right and straight through the seating area (complete with a television, electric fireplace and enough seating for a family of four), I walked out onto the balcony. After taking a quick look around, I headed back in to pass out on the plush, king-sized bed. I slept like a baby.
I woke up with the sunrise, as I forgot to close the black-out curtains, and stepped outside and realized the balcony was much larger than I thought the night before. It actually wrapped around from the living room area to the end of the bedroom with seating for five, a table and a grill. I laughed when I saw the outdoor bathtub in the corner overlooking Osoyoos Lake.
After a few days exploring and enjoying Spirit Ridge Resort, I was impressed by how much there was to see and do in such a relaxing setting. With Anarchist Mountain and Mica Canyon to one side, Osoyoos Lake on the other and vineyards encasing nearly the entire property, you can easily spend most of your time on the property.
Or, discuss options with the concierge and book a tour, head out hiking, vineyard hop and or enjoy the beach along any of the resort’s many connections and experiences. Definitely recommended for a girl’s trip or couples getaway.
