Seattle’s iconic Edgewater Hotel is anything but past its prime. The waterfront landmark is built over a pier jetting into Elliott Bay, near downtown, with views over mountains, water and skyscrapers. Built in 1962 for the World’s Fair, the rich history here includes visits from the Beatles, KISS, Led Zeppelin and more.
Playing host to famous rock-n-rollers is what the hotel is probably most known for among locals, but the 223-room property has much to offer contemporary visitors. Modern furnishings and décor greet visitors and extend to the guestrooms, many of which look out over incredible views. Watch the ferries glide by as you take a soak in the tub or read by the fire — it doesn’t get much better than this.
The views and well-appointed rooms are the top draw here; there’s little else in the way of amenities, though there is a fitness center and guests are allowed to bring pets for a $25 deposit. The hotel’s other gem is its Six Seven Restaurant, where locals come to celebrate special events and out-of-towners come to sample locally sourced cuisine, sip exquisitely crafted cocktails and of course, enjoy an epic view of Elliott Bay.

Apr 12, 2024How to Explore Neuschwanstein Castle
Most people know Neuschwanstein Castle as Walt Disney’s inspiration for both Cinderella’s and Sleeping Beauty’s castles, but it is also filled with history and stories from German royalty. In 1868, King Ludwig II began construction of the medieval-style castle to live in. Sadly, it wasn’t finished before he died, so the king never got to see the finished product. Today, the castle is privately owned, but travelers can still explore it on a guided audio tour.
