For $5 per person you can sit down and enjoy the biggest selection of board games in the whole of New York City.
The Uncommons is the first board game café in Manhattan, found just a block from Washington Square Park. With seating for 65 people and a huge selection of games, it’s a great place to while away an afternoon.
Bag yourself a table and select a game before ordering food and drinks from the bar. You can get coffee, soft drinks or beer, although there is a two-drink limit for alcoholic beverages in order to prevent drunken behavior.
The atmosphere is one of quiet concentration, but it’s relaxing at the same time. It makes a great place to take a break from the frenetic atmosphere of Manhattan.
Staff is friendly and the food seems popular, although we didn’t eat anything while we were there. Be prepared to wait for a table at some times of the day because The Uncommons has become incredibly popular with New Yorkers.
If you want to try something different rather than hanging out at the standard sports bar, The Uncommons is a great little spot that offers the unexpected.
