Lose the language guides that take up space in your backpack or carry-on, and go with a translation tool that can really save the day when you’re on the go because Google Translate can only go so far.
Sometimes, you’re just going to have one of those instances where you need a native language speaker. Maybe you need to speak with law enforcement or a doctor, or there was an issue with your travel plans. If you just can’t get through a local dialect-heavy conversation with your normal apps, get Verbalizeit, for a live translator ready to help you no matter the day or time.
It may sound a little bit like something from a science-fiction movie (think Doctor Who’s Tardis), but the Lexifone app translates your call while you talk. It works with 15 languages and 24 dialects.
If you’re not about to get an Android in order to use the Lexifone App, you can instead choose to go with the iTranslate Voice 3, which allows you to speak into your phone, and the app then translates your sentences into 42 different languages. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work over calls and some phonetic differences in languages don’t always translate easily using the app.
Translate Chinese, Japanese and Korean into English while you’re on the go. Just point the Waygo app at a sign, menu or any other printed text and the camera reads the text and translates it into English. More languages are being added, so you’re not just stuck to using Waygo during your travels to Asia.
