Washington, D.C.’s notorious Watergate Hotel celebrates its 50th anniversary this year — and it’s doing so in style.
The Mid-Century Modern hotel is best known for the break-in and spy scandal that led to President Richard Nixon’s resignation. But the hotel has a storied history beyond Nixon, as its played host to diplomats, celebrities and more for decades.
“We have curated a host of special programming and experiences to honor this milestone in style, and we look forward to welcoming guests to our iconic hotel over the next 50 years,” says Rakel Cohen, senior vice president of design and development, Euro Capital Properties, which owns the hotel.
The special programming includes a $50,000 luxury package with three nights in the Presidential Suite, two matching Watergate robes, private whisky tastings, a photo shoot, a helicopter tour of D.C., custom meals, a magnum of Champagne, spa treatments and even a private swim in the hotel pool with a personal bartender to attend to your beverage needs.
There’s also a 1967-themed, fixed-price menu available for one week only. It’s based on a State Dinner that took place in 1967, with a four-course menu by executive chef Michael Santoro at $120 per person.
The celebration comes a year after the completion of a $200 million renovation that updated the hotel’s classic style.
