Dressing for a black tie event for the first time might seem daunting. There are many factors to consider from head to toe. Follow our tips for looking your best at your next black tie event.
Accessorize
Liven up a simple dress with bold, interesting accessories. From statement earrings to unique footwear, make any outfit your own with the right accents.
Keep It Simple
While accessories can transform an outfit, don’t overdo it. Too much sparkle and embellishments can quickly go from chic to tacky. A perfectly tailored dress, no matter how simple, will always look best. When in doubt, go for a black dress.
Shop Smart
If cost is a concern, come up with a budget for your event attire. There are many great stores offering black tie attire for reasonable prices. Check out Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx and Ross for a dress at any budget.
Rent It
If you would rather not spend money on a dress you’ll never wear again, opt to rent instead. Companies like Rent the Runway offer beautiful options from top designers.
Buy It
Instead of renting, consider investing in a dress or tuxedo you can wear again in the future. A classic, well fitting tux never goes out of style.
