Tips / Travel

There’s no right way to explore a new city, but to truly take in the experience there are five things you should always try when you can. These will help you get the best taste of the local culture and history in a short amount of time.

Visit a Museum

A city’s history is its most important treasure. You can’t truly understand a new place until you know what built it, so always include a museum trip on your itinerary.

Explore on Foot

A car might be the fastest way to get around, but it’s also the least interactive. To really get the feel of a place, you have to travel by foot. You’ll see and do more this way and you’ll likely stumble upon treasures you might’ve missed on wheels.

Eat with a Local

People make up the heart of every city, so you have to get to know the locals in order to really know the place. Befriend a local and enjoy a good meal with them. They’ll know the best places to eat and give you firsthand knowledge of the culture.

Find the Local Market

In many countries, the local market is the cornerstone of the neighborhood. It’s where locals converge to chat and celebrate and where you’ll be able to experience the best food and customs.

Leave Town

While cities are exciting places to be, sometimes the most enriching experiences happen just outside of city limits. It’s here you’ll find the folks who’ve lived in the area the longest, as well as the best outdoor adventures.
