With all of the great things to do in Milwaukee, it is easy to lose yourself for an afternoon or even an entire weekend. If you want to get a little lost or go out of the way, then you may want to check out Milwaukee’s outer border. Stick to the lakes and parks, or even a house with a bowling alley in the basement.
Revel in an indoor art walk amid priceless works at the Milwaukee Art Museum. You will find yourself easily captivated not only by the art, but by the architecture of this unique building. And if a nature walk is more your style, then look to the Urban Ecology Center where you can take a long walk and even rent kayaks.
Check out South Shore Park in the Bay View neighborhood and hang out at the Miller Beer Garden. Do this before and after partaking in any of the fantastic restaurants in the area, in particular the Palomino where the Biscuit Sammy will put a smile on your face.
In the evening, you may want to relax with some bowling. Stop by the Holler House for a game. Be sure to book in advance; the pins here are set manually since it is the oldest sanctioned bowling alley in the United States dating back to 1908.
If you need the euphoria of a sugar rush to make you forget your troubles, sit down at Honeypie. Here you can select any number of perfect slices made with locally sourced Wisconsin ingredients.
