Tips / Other

We all do not have the luxury of buying a new pair of shoes every week. We all know the struggle of brand-new white shoes. Sometimes it can be hard keeping your shoes pristine and clean, so for your convenience we compiled a list of tips and tricks that will help you keep your shoes looking as if they just came out of the box.

Carry a Toothbrush

This may seem like a silly trick, but it may be one of the best for those trying to keep their shoes clean after walking to work on a rainy day. Whenever you get something on your shoe, simply whip that bad boy out and start scrubbing away. People may think you are odd for carrying around a toothbrush, but for those of us determined to keep our shoes looking fresh, this is called dedication. Just watch out for materials such as leather and suede, which could be negatively affected by the friction caused by the tough bristles.

Club Soda

This may seem like an obvious solution to stains, but you would be surprised how many people do not know about this technique. Do a lot of painting? Maybe you wear white shoes while working as the grape stomper at your local vineyard. After a hard day’s work, there is a slight chance you may get some stains on your favorite Chuck Taylors. Have no fear, club soda is here. Simply pour a liberal amount on the stain and it should get to work instantly, removing close to or all of the stain right there on the spot.

Double Sock Trick

Ever get those unsightly creases mid-way down your shoe? Don’t you wish you could keep that from happening? Well, now you can with the double sock technique. It is as simple as wearing two pairs of long socks, one put on normally, and the second pair you put on top of the first pair, leaving half of the second pair of sock hanging off the tip of your toes. Before you put on your shoe, flip the extra material of the second sock on top of your foot, bridging the gap between the top of your shoe and your foot. Reducing the space between your foot and the shoe leaves less room for the shoe’s material to crease or get crushed, reducing those unsightly lines we have all grown to hate.
