Plane tickets are generally the priciest part of any vacation, so what if you could bring the price down by flying through a cheaper airport?
A new survey analyzed the 45 busiest airports and looked at the range of expenses a traveler might incur at each. The study from RewardExpert looked at prices for coffee, sandwiches, WiFi and more, in addition to plane ticket prices.
“With so many unnecessary high payments and charges, it’s hard to know how to cut costs on a trip without forgoing basic comforts, and sometimes even necessities, without blowing your travel budget before you even arrive at your destination,” RewardExpert says.
The top 10 most expensive airports are Newark Liberty International Airport; John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York; Washington Dulles International Airport; Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport; Los Angeles International Airport; Charlotte Douglas International Airport; St. Louis Lambert International Airport; George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston; Austin–Bergstrom International Airport; and LaGuardia Airport, Queens.
The top 10 least expensive airports were Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport; McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas; Orlando International Airport; Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport; Tampa International Airport; San José International Airport; Denver International Airport; Oakland International Airport; Portland International Airport; and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
