Tips / Travel

Before road tripping to California for Coachella this year, there is a lot to consider. Packing for a festival can be a challenging task with the California desert climate, lack of resources and daily activities in store. Luckily, we have an easy, short list of must-haves for the festival.

First, remember to stay hydrated as the days will be long, hot and active. There are free water refill stations all over the property and camping venue, approximately one for every four people, so remember to bring a clear, plastic refillable water bottle or a Camelback water bottle, but no metal.

There will be plenty of booths selling hats, sunglasses and sunscreen if you forget to pack your own, so make sure you have a debit/credit card. Don’t bring cash as that will be an unnecessary worry while camping. There will be plenty of ATM machines throughout the venue, but make sure you bring something to hold and protect your valuables.

Clothing that is breathable, quick drying and with pockets will be helpful for the festival. The days will be hot and the nights can be cold, so bring plenty of layers. As long as the clothing is light, you can pack a lot without the bulk and layer at night.

Portable detergents and soaps are a must. There are shower trailers, so bring a towel, shower shoes and any preferred soap for body, hair and clothes, like Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile soap.

With free charging stations all over the festival grounds, you can even stay plugged in while in the desert. The packing list is quite simple: Just remember to pack smart and keep your most important items locked away or somewhere safe at all times.
