Tips / Travel

Camping is a great way to get back in touch with nature. It’s also a great way to start smelling like something died in your pants. Showers are hard to come by out in the woods, but that’s no excuse not to stay clean.

Bring One

Portable showers are all the rage these days and offer a great way to clean off after a night sleeping on the ground. Most of them come equipped with a reservoir bag, a hook to hang it from a tree and a spout to dispense water. Just hang it up, block yourself from view and lather up.

Take a Dip

Alternatively, you can just hop in a nearby body of water and take an impromptu bath. Be sure to use eco-friendly soap that won’t harm the environment or wildlife if you go this route. You also might want to make sure no one is around to sneak a peek.

Baby Wipes

If you can’t clean yourself with soap, some baby wipes will do in a pinch. Simply scrub your most delicate areas — groin and underarms — to get rid of any raunchy smells and it’ll help get you through the night.

Hand Sanitizer

If you don’t have any baby wipes on hand, hopefully you’re a fan of hand sanitizer. While it’s not exactly meant to be used anywhere else it won’t do any harm. Find someplace private and give yourself a good wipe. You might smell like alcohol but that’s better than the alternative.
