Tips / Safety

Travel hook-ups are a wonderful thing. They’re usually guilt-free and don’t end with a walk of shame the next morning because nobody is around to judge you afterwards. Plus, foreign men and women tend to be hotter than Americans. It’s just a fact. Here are some tips for hooking up overseas.

Wrap It Up

No matter what pills you’re on or how much your hook-up seems like an honest person, always wrap it up. Depending on what country you’re in, there could easily be a higher prevalence of STIs to worry about, so that added layer of protection could mean the difference between a guilt-free roll in the hay and a gruesome case of herpes.

Have Sex Sober

Rape is a serious problem in a lot of foreign countries, especially for women, where equal rights haven’t caught on. Make sure you have your wits about you before heading home with a stranger you’ve just met overseas. There’s not always much recourse for travelers when something goes wrong, so avoid drinking and you’ll be more aware of any sketchy behavior. Don’t accept drinks from strangers.

Be Wary of Prostitutes

In certain locales prostitution is both legal and wildly encouraged. That means you never quite know if that pretty girl at the bar actually thinks you’re cute or if she’s really eyeing your wallet. It’s not uncommon for unsuspecting guys to have a night of fun then become surprised when their friend for the night starts demanding payment before she leaves. Be aware of who you’re dealing with.

Experiment

Remember, nobody’s going to hear about your exploits that occurred halfway across the world if they weren’t there to see it.
