Travel With A Wool Scarf

Tips / Travel

The decision to buy a simple wool scarf can go a long way toward easing travel anxiety. Clearly, cashmere is ideal as it’s a material not unlike a thermos bottle — it keeps you warm when you’re cold and doesn’t heat you up terribly when it’s hot outside. The only question, really, is how does it know? (Yes, I understand the thermos’ use of insulation). The point is a single wool scarf goes along nicely on travels and takes up precious little space.

Obviously when traveling, or any other time for that matter, breaking your arm is no fun, but a wool scarf could be a makeshift sling if needed. A nice wool scarf can also be used to wrap a bottle of wine to see that it makes it home safely in your checked baggage. But, the real reason a scarf should be in your suitcase is its versatility and ability to help you accessorize properly and uniquely through a series of different tying options and the fact that a scarf, like a tie, can set off otherwise drab clothing options. Did I mention the fact a scarf can also provide warmth? If you’re packing light, you’re going to be largely looking the same each day, but a scarf can help you feel as though you’ve made an effort each morning, afternoon or evening.

A single wool scarf can add to your self-esteem while keeping you warm on a night you didn’t expect to turn chilly. If not for you, have a scarf to offer someone else that is doing their best to not say they are cold.
