The holidays are typically the time when people think of others and look for an opportunity to give back to their community.
The commendable notion to help others should not be suppressed. So if you’re determined to volunteer in the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, here are a few tips.
Plan ahead. Holidays are typically big volunteer days. If you’re set on a particular date, call ahead to schedule and sign up. Many organizations require training prior to volunteering so it’s a good idea to check on the specifics ahead of time.
Grab some friends. Volunteering is not only more fun with friends but it’s easier to schedule a time when you join an established group or make one of your own.
Get creative. Many people only think of a few places to volunteer, but there are many organizations that need your help. Don’t limit yourself to food banks or clothing drives, look for schools and other non-profits that could use a hand.
Make this holiday season cheery for all and give back to your community in the process.
