Bursa is a town rich with history and culture, so it’s easy to find yourself getting lost here for a few days soaking it in. If you’re having trouble pinning down an itinerary, here are a few ideas to help you stay on track.
Explore the Bazaar
Bursa’s central bazaar is a veritable maze of exciting shops, food carts and buildings to explore. It’s home to the Grand Mosque and some fantastic opportunities for people watching if you have the time.
The Teleferik
Even if you’re not a fan of the slopes, a ride up the Teleferik is still in order. The surrounding landscape of Bursa becomes a winter wonderland when the snow begins to fall and the views are utterly stunning.
Tombs of Osman and Orhan
Unlike most of the other historical sites in town, you won’t find this one teeming with tourists. It’s a wonderful, intimate and free way to explore the history of the area, even if it leans slightly toward the macabre.
Eski Kaplıca Hamam
Volcanic activity around the city of Bursa led to some pretty spectacular hot springs popping up around town. One of the oldest, Eski Kaplica Hamam is a great way to relax and take in a traditional Turkish bath.
Cumalıkızık
Though technically outside of the city, the outlying town of Cumalıkızık is something out of a Disney fairytale. The cobblestone streets are lined with small, locally owned shops and eateries begging to be explored. Be sure to have your camera with you.
