There’s just something about the sun, sea and sand that make a great cocktail taste even better. From beautiful views and laidback vibes to delicious food and drinks, we compiled a list of some of the best beach bars in the Caribbean.
Da Conch Shack, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos
This informal establishment situated on Blue Hills Beach is famous for its varieties of rum and food, served on casual picnic tables by the water. Visitors can watch fishermen haul conch from the sea, which the bar’s cooks transform into delicious fritters, salads and chowder, while enjoying the sounds of the sea and reggae music.
The Dune Preserve, Anguilla
Popular reggae musician Bankie Bankx oversees operations at The Dune, a great beach bar with a counterculture vibe. Set on Rendezvous Bay, The Dune is a popular spot for authentic Caribbean barbecue ribs and chicken and fresh seafood. In the evening, the bar hosts live music where Bankie himself often performs.
Floyd’s Pelican Bar, Jamaica
Located a quarter mile from the beach off Jamaica’s lesser-visited southern coast, Floyd’s Pelican Bar can only be reached by boat. From the shore the unique bar looks like a nest of a seabird, and when you get closer you’ll find a rustic flotsam watering hole on stilts. Enjoy fresh-from-the-sea fried fish and an ice-cold Red Stripe while floating in the shallow water surrounding the bar.
Soggy Dollar Bar, British Virgin Islands
Located on Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands, Soggy Dollar Bar is famous for its full-moon parties and wide variety of local drinks. Take a seat at the beachside bar or one of the bar’s hammocks, and enjoy the signature Painkiller cocktail, composed of dark rum, cream of coconut, pineapple and orange juice, topped with fresh nutmeg.
Rick’s Café, Jamaica
Rick’s Café is one of the more touristy bars in Jamaica, but is well worth a visit. Perched on a cliff top, visitors can enjoy cocktails overlooking the ocean while locals and bar guests perform impressive jumps and dives from the 35-foot-high cliffs into the ocean below. The bar also offers a pool, dance floor and mouthwatering authentic Jamaican food.
