Top 5 / Europe

The capital city of Denmark offers enough to do and see to fill an entire week, and then some, but Copenhagen also sits nicely on the border of Scandinavia and the rest of Europe, making it a great home base for daytrips to explore the area, including the nearby destinations below.

Helsingor/Kronborg Castle
As the setting for Shakespeare’s Hamlet, this coastal castle lies just at the water’s edge. The former Baltic toll stop is now a UNESCO World Heritage site and dates to the 15th century.

Louisiana Museum of Art
Approximately 15 minutes from Kronborg Castle is the Louisiana Museum of Art, a popular stop for modern art aficionados in a pristine setting on the Baltic Sea.

Frederiksborg Castle
Continuing in the realm of royal architecture, this lakeside edifice 40 minutes north of Copenhagen welcomes visitors to tour the neatly manicured Baroque gardens as well as the castle’s interior, now the Museum of National History.

The Cliffs of Mon
Nearly two hours south of Copenhagen lie cliffs set among Denmark’s South Sea Islands. Also home to a nature reserve, the white cliffs lead to a drop of 300 feet.

Malmö, Sweden
A quick train ride across the water will land travelers in this eclectic Swedish city, home to the oldest and best-preserved Renaissance castle in Scandinavia: Malmöhus Castle.

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. How to Explore Neuschwanstein Castle

Most people know Neuschwanstein Castle as Walt Disney’s inspiration for both Cinderella’s and Sleeping Beauty’s castles, but it is also filled with history and stories from German royalty. In 1868, King Ludwig II began construction of the medieval-style castle to live in. Sadly, it wasn’t finished before he died, so the king never got to see the finished product. Today, the castle is privately owned, but travelers can still explore it on a guided audio tour.
