Top 5 / North America

Colorado Springs contains some of the most breathtaking hikes in the United States. There are so many surrounding the city, it’s difficult to choose just one. Here are the top five to check out when visiting.

Garden of the Gods

The Garden of the Gods State Park is consistently voted No. 1 in the country. The towering red rock formations are unlike anything you’ll find in the world. The hike around the park is an easy one and you can even climb on top of some of the boulders if you’re feeling frisky.

Red Rock Open Canyon Space

There are a variety of trails throughout Red Rock Open Canyon Space. There are two off-leash dog loops and biking trails providing excellent views of the Garden of the Gods. Red Rock Canyon lacks shade on most trails, so come here when the sun is low.

Cheyenne Mountain State Park

With more than 20 hikes to choose from, Cheyenne Mountain State Park is a favorite among hikers and visitors. As it ascends to the top you’ll see exquisite views of the plains sprawling out from the Front Range.

Bear Creek Canyon

Bear Creek is a great choice for the experienced hiker. It provides rough terrain that traverses waterfalls and old mining tunnels on the way to numerous peaks. Here, you’ll find Mount Garfield, Mount Arthur and Mount Kineo.

Barr Trail

The Barr Trail is the preeminent climb to the top of Pike’s Peak. The 12-mile hike ascends to a height of 14,115 feet at the top and is not for the inexperienced. Along the way you’ll face treacherous terrain, along with stunning waterfalls and an unparalleled view of the Front Range.
