Australian Museum
The oldest museum in Australia is known for its natural history and anthropology exhibits. Learn about Australia’s history through science, culture and wildlife. The museum is open daily.
Hyde Park Barracks Museum
Construction began on the brick building in 1818 as a crossroads for convict transportation. It later served as a female immigration depot and a legal center before becoming a museum in 1979.
Museum of Contemporary Art, Australia
The museum is home to Australian and international contemporary art, as well as a special collection of Aboriginal art. Open daily, the museum is housed in a large, waterside Art Deco building.
Powerhouse Museum
A branch of the Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences, the Powerhouse Museum offers a diverse collection of science- and technology-related exhibits including decorative arts, communication, costume, transport, media, computer technology, space technology and steam engines.
Sydney Jewish Museum
The Sydney Jewish Museum is dedicated to the Holocaust and Australian Jewish history. Opened in 1992, the museum features temporary and permanent exhibits.
