Top 5 / North America

Colorado is one of the most popular ski states in the country. The next time you plan to hit the slopes, consider one of these ski towns offering prime powder conditions and other activities.

Aspen

Aspen is one of the most well-known ski towns in the country, so it should come as no surprise we included the town on our list. Aspen is home to many luxury ski resorts, including a high number of ski-in/out lodging options.

Breckenridge

Breckenridge is located at the base of the Rocky Mountains’ Tenmile Range. Besides skiing, take part in the town’s year-round activities and Gold Rush history.

Steamboat Springs

With trails mostly geared toward intermediate and advanced skiers, Steamboat Springs is for serious skiers. After a day of outdoor activities, head to one of the geothermal hot springs to heal your aching muscles.

Telluride

Gondolas take skiers to the impressive slopes, some exceeding 13,000 feet. In addition to the outdoor activities, Telluride plays host to many festivals throughout the year, including the popular Telluride Film Festival (http://telluridefilmfestival.org).

Vail

Vail has something for everyone, from challenging ski slopes to luxury resorts and everything in between. If you are generally a fan of outdoor activities, consider coming back in the summer for golfing, hiking, fishing and other warm-weather attractions.
