Enjoy National Blueberry Month
Celebrate National Blueberry Month in July with blueberry festivals all over New Jersey. Head to the Blueberry Bash at Terhune Orchards July 8–9 or the Blueberry Festival at Alstede Farms, July 8–9 and 15–16. Celebrate everything blueberry and head out to Terhune Orchards to pick your own blueberries from the two-acre patch. Sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of the afternoon while listening to country music. The farm offers various family-friendly options from tractor-drawn wagons to puppet shows and, when hunger strikes, visit Pam Mount’s Blueberry Bash Buffet full of blueberry treats like blueberry-apple crisp, blueberry drinks, muffins, cobbler and more. Enter the Blueberry Bash Bake Off. Admission to Terhune Orchards is $8. If you’re in north Jersey, head over to Alstede Farms in Chester to enjoy plenty of blueberry treats and farm fun.
Taste the Sea
If you’re feeling crabby this month, head to Cape May for the 6th Annual Craft Beer and Crab Festival Aug. 5. Join friends and family at the grounds of the Physick Estate and experience one of New Jersey’s top five summer festivals. The all-day event features local craft beers and favorite summer picnic foods like steamed crabs, crab cakes, pulled pork, corn on the cob, potato salad and more. Enjoy live music all day and shop around at local craft vendors and the farmers market. Admission to the festival is free, but there will be a charge for food, beverages and some activities.
FamilyCon
Enjoy time with family at the Second Annual FamilyCon 2017 at iPlay America. The largest and most popular family fun convention in America is back. The event is a one-stop shop for all things happy, healthy and prosperous for the whole family. See more than 100 companies offering products and goods for families of all needs. The convention includes activities by sponsors like Home Depot, NJ Kids Online and Microsoft. iPlay America features indoor boardwalk fun like go-karts, bowling, amusement rides, video games and laser tag. The convention occurs Saturday, July 8, 12–5 p.m. General admission tickets for adults are $15.
Celebrate Italian-American Heritage
Head over to Hammonton to commemorate Italian-American heritage July 11–16, during the 142nd Annual Mt. Carmel Italian Festival. The festival is the longest running Italian-American fest in the United States. Nosh on delicious Italian food from numerous stands, and relax in beer and wine gardens. Enjoy live entertainment, carnival rides, games, fireworks and a grand procession of saints through the streets of Hammonton.
Up, Up and Away
The Warren County Farmers’ Fair and Balloon Fest celebrates its 80th year. Travel to Phillipsburg July 29–Aug. 5, for a family fun event that features a Hot Air Balloon Festival with up to 35 balloons. The balloon festival features mass hot air balloon launches, tethered balloon rides, hare and hound races and the unique Bicycle Balloon Race where pilots and cyclists pair up in a race of skill and speed. Main arena events include demolition derbies, mud bogs and tractor/truck pulls. Tickets for adults are $7.
