Derived from the Japanese Ninja Warrior competition, American Ninja Warrior is the ultimate test in athletic prowess. Each year, hundreds of athletes challenge their physical ability in the grueling obstacle course. Warriors are known to train all year for a chance to compete in the epic athletic contest.
Competitor applications for the 2017 tournament closed Jan. 2, but fans can still participate from the sidelines. Join the waitlist for tickets to attend the qualifying rounds March 7–May 9. Athletes must be 21 years or older to compete in the various rounds of competition. Events extend from California to Texas, Florida, Montana and Ohio.
The final stage of the trial is known as Mt. Modoriyama and will be held in Las Vegas. To date, only one warrior completed all four stages and received the $1 million cash prize. All other warriors contend in the intense competition for honor and bragging rights.
Sasuke, Japan’s Ninja Warrior competition, continues to be the more challenging of the two. Only three competitors completed Sasuke’s obstacle course in more than 31 years of competition. Sasuke is no longer televised, but continues to challenge athletes of all ages.
