Quebec City is a popular destination in and of itself — an idyllic European-style city situated on the banks of the picturesque Saint Lawrence River, full of history, culture and charm. For those looking for a bit more adventure, Quebec City is also a cyclist’s paradise, home to an annual visit by the WorldTour and world-class mountain biking resort Mont-Sainte-Ann.
A quick, 35-minute trip along the Saint Lawrence Seaway brings you to Mont-Saint-Ann, a year-round resort in the quaint suburb of Beaupre. The resort is the ultimate destination for mountain bikers with 625 total meters of vertical trails, comprised of downhill, cross country and free ride trails, with challenge levels available for beginners and experts alike.
The cross-country option offers 130 kilometers of buff trails with a mix of terrain offering different challenges for different types of riders. The world-class downhill trails span 28 kilometers and are well known for the stunning views on the way down. For free riders, Mont-Saint-Ann offers a nine-kilometer trail with a mix of cross country and downhill rides with exhilarating hills and drops. The mountain offers low-grade technical trails like La Boucle d’Or along with more challenging routes such as L’Avenue Royale and Le Sentier du Moulin. For those seeking an adrenaline rush, hit La Coupe de Monde trail, also know as The World Cup.
Trails can be accessed via gondolas, which offer a scenic ride to the top of the resort. There is an elevated pump track at the bottom of the mountain with well-groomed berms, camel bumps and jumps for beginners, and the resort also recently launched the MTB Project, an app that lets you know where you are on the trails at all times.
