The Icelandic singer will perform a special, four-hour DJ set June 14, giving fans a rare opportunity to hear the artist’s many influences through the decades. The day also marks the inauguration of “Digital Björk,” an exhibit by the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona that combines music, visuals and technology into an immersive showcase of her work.
Sónar itself is in its 25th year, celebrating the festival’s exponential growth over the years. It’s one of electronic music culture’s most important events, promoting dialogue between the worlds of art and technology by hosting workshops and talking panels alongside musical performances. Björk will host her own talk as part of Sónar + D, the festival’s daytime program dedicated to the technology and industry of electronic music.
Spain’s premier rave party has fans all around the world, coming fresh off an international tour that stopped in Hong Kong, Istanbul and Reykjavik. Barcelona has the biggest party though, spread across four stages and a slew of unaffiliated events. Notable guests for 2017 include Fatboy Slim, Moderat, Helena Hauff, Ben Klock and many more.
