The Bluff International Balloon Festival is one of Utah’s most colorful, high-flying events of the year and the perfect opportunity to view some of the country’s most breathtaking landscape amid a charming, friendly atmosphere.
Residents of Bluff have hosted the festival for nearly 20 years and have seen hundreds of hot air balloons take to the skies. The balloons come in many shapes and colors and the festival brings viewers from around the country to witness the spectacle. In previous years those who arrived early enough were able to volunteer to help get balloons into the sky and, if they’re lucky, got to take a ride up with the pilots.
The balloons hang in the air for over an hour, traveling around the town to put on a show. Once they come back down, visitors usually head over to the Arts Festival to check out the work of local artists and maybe purchase a little souvenir.
There are plenty of reasons to plan a trip to Utah, one of the most beautiful states in the country, but the added bonus of partaking or simply seeing dozens of balloons floating through the air is a sure treat that will delight every traveler.
The Bluff International Balloon festival is held annually toward the middle of January and includes plenty of additional events, including a glow-in, where they light the inside of the lights at night; a raffle; and sunrise flights three days in a row.
