Trends / Food & Drink

To say brunch is the new breakfast is the understatement of the year. Brunch is more like the new weekend, and it has taken Philadelphia by storm. Next time you’re in the City of Brotherly Love, check out these most buzzed-about spots.

6FT Under

Fill up your plate at Six Feet Under, an underground gastropub in Washington Square. In partnership with the much buzzed about South Philly restaurant, Noord, Six Feet Under boasts a loaded brunch menu, extensive Bloody Mary list and live jazz music.

Double Knot

Sit in the downstairs dining room and enjoy a full lunch menu from 10 a.m.–3 p.m., or opt for the street-level café room for a brunch buffet. At $18 a head, guests enjoy unlimited brunch pastries from scones, bagels and pastries to fruit, Vietnamese noodle salads, bao and other authentic Vietnamese offerings. Pair your meal with coffee or matcha, or something from the bar.

Fond

Fond opened in 2009, but it is new to the brunch game. Offering brunch service on Sundays, Fond offers unlimited Bloody Marys for $20, with contemporary American cuisine — think elevated omelets, waffles and classic American fare with a twist.

Ants Pants Cafe

Try to beat the crowd and grab a table at Ants Pants Café. The tight quarters and cozy vibe play well with the friendly service and comfort-driven menu. Expect everything from breakfast sandwiches and salmon platters to loaded beef or vegetarian hash. Just stop at the ATM beforehand as this casual café is cash only.
