Trends / Health & Wellness

Letting those New Year’s resolutions fall by the wayside is easily done while traveling. Stick with it and keep the momentum going even while away with these helpful tips.

Choose an Active Destination

Plenty of destinations on your bucket list offer health and wellness-centered itineraries — especially national parks. Yogis take a stretch on the wild side with practice along Desolation Canyon on the Green River in Utah. Get in some group bonding with friends on the Balance and Flow trip, launching this summer. Raft through the rapids to your campsites and yoga classes and let the wilderness be your studio.

For something a bit more up-tempo, try a fitness excursion. Bike, raft, hike and explore on this four-day trip including some swimming, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. Take advantage of the personal trainers and guides with some stretching, core work and mediation along the journey through the Westwater Canyons and Canyonlands National Parks in Utah.

Take Advantage of Hotel Gyms

Whether staying in an economy hotel or upscale resort, chances are there is a fitness center or hotel gym nearby. Wake up a little earlier and hit the hotel gym or take a dip in the pool before the crew wakes up. Head out alone and enjoy some me-time, or invite the group, keeping each other accountable on your trip.

Explore on Foot

From Nashville and Austin to New York and Chicago, no matter your destination, there is bound to be time to explore on foot. Hit local museums, coffee shops, open-air markets and tourist destinations and save money on transportation while getting in a few extra steps each day. You’ll feel invigorated by the exercise and more rewarded with each meal.

Going the Distance: Which Airports Have the Longest Walks?
