Ford’s Theatre

Still a functioning theater, Ford’s Theatre was built in 1863 and holds the unfortunate title of the site of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.

Old Post Office Pavilion

The striking stone structure was built in 1899, adjacent to the White House and United States Capitol. It was the first government building to have its own electric power plant.

Washington National Cathedral

Construction of the Cathedral began in 1907. It was added to the list of the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1974. The second-largest cathedral in the United States, it hosted two state funerals for American presidents: President Eisenhower and President Reagan.

United States Capitol

A must-see for any visitor, the United States Capitol is the home of the United States Congress. Construction on the building began in 1793.

 

 

Union Station

You might arrive via Amtrak to the major transport hub of Washington, D.C. Opened in 1907, the train station currently serves as Amtrak’s headquarters and boasts an impressive shopping and dining experience.
