Trends / Sports

Didn’t get a chance to ski this winter? Or just haven’t had enough yet? There are still plenty of destinations to check out into spring, and even summer, to get your snowy fix. Check out this list of top ski resorts open April onward for relaxed, warmer and scenic runs.

Hintertux, Austria

This ski resort is open 365 days a year; it is one of the largest skiable areas in the Alps.

 Ruka, Lapland, Finland

Ruka in Lapland is open until mid-June, boasting the longest ski season for a resort without a glacier in Europe. Ruka will have five to six runs open April–May. Its 24-hour daylight this time of year provides plenty of sunlight for you to tear down the mountain.

Whistler Blackcomb, Canada

This famous resort is open until the last weekend in May, where skiing is concentrated on the resort’s glaciers. Several hundred acres of terrain remain open this time of year.

Tignes, France

This French resort is open until mid-May, offering the longest resort season in France. It’s often still possible to ski a full vertical back to the resort until the start of May.

Squaw Valley, Calif.

Squaw Valley dubs itself the “spring skiing capital of North America.” It remains open until mid-May. Return for snow sports on July 4 for continued fun in the summer.

Passo Tonale, Italy

Passo Tonale has one of the deepest snow bases in Italy, and its ski season can last until July on the glacier. As much as 50 kilometers of slope remain open well into May.
