When you think of gay-friendly countries, China might not exactly jump to the forefront of your mind. You might be surprised how much great stuff there is for gay men and women to see and do in Beijing, though.
It’s low-key, with most people preferring to keep quiet about their personal lives, so you won’t find many gay pride parades or events. There are a few things to do around the city to keep you busy though.
By far the most popular gay nightclub is Destination. It’s targeted at a primarily younger crowd, but anyone can visit here and feel welcome. Funky is also another popular gay club hotspot, while An Club is a local gathering place for the lesbian community.
Contrary to popular belief, you won’t be arrested just for walking around the city holding hands here. You’re free to be yourself.
