As travelers continue to find cheaper ways to travel, the landscape opens for voyagers of all ages. You no longer need a high-paying job and buckets of cash to enjoy a quick getaway or overseas adventure. As the travel-sphere caters to its new generation of travelers, facilities — particularly hotels and lodging options — are adapting along with it.
The status quo falls by the wayside as millennial travelers enter the travel scene. Standard buffet breakfasts and lackluster social areas are amenities of the past, and are being replaced by innovative food options and multipurpose social rooms that allow hotel guests to interact with others and maximize technological capabilities.
Young travelers want to stay connected and are seeking the most unique vacation options available. In response, certain hotel chains are developing common areas that encourage socialization among guests, as well as custom-designed rooms based on the hotel´s location. Boutique hotels are starting to feel like extensions of people´s personal living spaces instead of the stuffy, cookie-cutter hotels of the past.
Not only will amenities and the hotel environment change, but prices may also dip. Although millennials are traveling more than previous generations, their newly acquired paychecks don´t afford as much flexibility in terms of travel. Hotels are responding by dropping rates and offering alternative ways to stay, such as lifestyle hotels and those that offer more in terms of the travel experience rather than the luxury of the lodging.
