Trends / Adventure

Climate change is upon us. Slowly, the polar ice caps are melting and the Arctic will become less populated. For travelers, there is a growing trend to visit the Arctic to witness the untouched beauty before it inevitably disappears. Travelers are pulled to the Arctic with promises of unsullied Earth and animals only otherwise seen in zoos.

One of the main reasons people make the trek to Antarctica is for the beauty of the landscape. By braving sub-zero temperatures, they are rewarded with miles of pristine white snow. Of course, a similar view can be found in the snowy mountain regions of the world, but none are as flawless as the Arctic. There is no industrialization or manufacturing here, making the views spectacular.

The wildlife brings out the adventure seekers. Some species like Emperor penguins are native only to Antarctica. This alone is the motivation behind many travelers that make the journey. Sure, these animals can be seen in zoos, behind fences, but a truly memorable experience is capturing a moment with an Emperor penguin or Leopard seal with their species in their territory.

The best way to reach Antarctica is by taking a cruise. As of now, cruises to Antarctica are expensive and out of reach for those with a modest income. However, for those who can afford to go, there are many resources that can help you choose the best cruise.

Traveling to Antarctica is on the rise, and with an influx of travelers comes a higher demand for the destination, resulting in lower prices. For those that can’t yet afford a trip to Antarctica, keep the continent in mind and check on the prices in a couple years. It may be more affordable.
