If you’ve ever wondered where those cup of noodles you spent your freshman year of college living off of got their start, you might want to check out the Ramen Museum in Osaka, Japan. This enthusiastic testament to the glory of noodle cups is an exciting, if hokey, attraction both kids and adults can enjoy.
Plus, you get to design your own cup of noodles. The museum has numerous attractions to explore that all give valuable insight into the origins of instant ramen noodles, from a noodle tunnel to an informative drama theater and exact recreation of the shed where the first chicken ramen was made.
The real highlight, of course, is the opportunity to create your own cup filled with your choice of noodles and toppings, freeze dried for your trip home. Entrance to the museum itself is free, but crafting your own noddle cup with set you back 300 yen.
If you’re not quite sure what you like in your noodles, you can always hit up the tasting room where they provide an endless array of soups, noodles and toppings to take a bite out of before you commit.
Be sure to stop by the museum shop to pick up a few souvenirs before you leave.
