Trends / Adventure

Traveling to Africa in January can allow visitors the same sightseeing benefits as during the high season, with the added bonus of lower rates. January falls within the middle of Kenya’s wet season, offering cooler days — with highs of 80 degrees — and lush, green landscape.

The average rainfall in January is the lowest all year, but the wet season lasts November to May with the heaviest rains in March and May. January tends to be a great time for safari visits for lower rates, green vegetation and spotting wildlife and their young.

There will be myriad parks and reservations to choose from in Kenya alone, but travelers should plan to visit the dryer plains during the wet season. Lamu Archipelago, Watamu, Masai Mara National Reserve, Nairobi, Samburu National Reserve and Amboseli National Park will all vary in rainfall and seasonal dryness.

The wet season often discourages tourists, allowing for lower rates, but January happens to be a sweet spot in the season. Kenya rainfall in January tends to be light and later in the day, not often conflicting with safari expeditions.

Going the Distance: Which Airports Have the Longest Walks?

You’re in between flights and ready to find a coffee and your next gate and settle in. But then you find the signs to your gate and look down the impossibly long corridor and wonder how you managed to have the gate at the opposite end of the airport.

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
