As one of the most remote regions on the planet few people get to explore the Antarctic continent. If you’re feeling brave, you can be one of them. AUIP offers a fantastic opportunity for students to explore the icy region while also learning about sustainability.
The course covers the length of a semester with most taught online, but during your school’s winter break you’ll be able to set sail for Antarctic to get up close and personal with the wildlife. The trip begins from a home base in Argentina where you’ll learn a little bit about local life and culture before setting sail down the Beagle Channel toward the icy continent. Along the way you’ll experience presentations about the ecosystem in Antarctica and the importance of sustainability in the area and how the region is crucial to maintaining life all over the world.
Once there you’ll have ample chances to set foot ashore and see all the area has to offer from awe-inspiring glaciers to penguin waddles and more. You might even get the opportunity to camp onshore for one night.
The sustainability course in Antarctica is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience Earth’s last true wilderness and a crazy story to tell all of your friends. For more information check out AUIP’s website.
