Can you pucker your lips together and make a funny face? We’re guessing probably so. Congratulations, that means you have what it takes to title in the annual Gurning World Championship. Now it in its 751st year, the championship is one of the highlights of the fall festival season in England.
This quirky competition is a battle of ridiculous facial contortions and “athletes” go nose to nose to try and make the silliest expression possible. The hilarious results will have you bowled over in laughter. The contest is part of the U.K.’s Egremont Crab Fair in Cumbria and is only one of a variety of oddball events. There are a few rules to the competition — like no accessories other than false teeth — but for the most part anyone is able to enter. With separate categories for men, women and children ,you can bet there’s a wide array of goofy faces to be seen. Pouty faces, silly smiles and angry expressions are all fair game.
Other spectacles at the fair include pony leaping and pipe smoking, if those are more up your alley. Either way, it promises to be a unique and fun event you’ll want to share with all of your friends.
