Over a 43-mile stretch of river that runs through the British capital, you can explore a range of events that run the gamut from arts, culture and river-based activities. The idea behind the festival is to get people visiting the mighty river which flows through London, with a highly varied program of 150 events.
If eating out is your thing, a number of exclusive riverside restaurants offered discount prices as part of the Dine by the River program. Participating eateries include Skylon Restaurant, The Gun and Tom’s Kitchen at Somerset House.
Further downstream was art, literature, music and film events as part of Estuary 2016, which invites you to find out more about Thames Estuary communities. All along the river, popular tourist attractions such as the Southbank Center and London Wetland Center hosted special events in honor of Totally Thames, with something for everyone.
For many people, urban rivers are polluted wastelands which simply bisect our busy lives, but there is a growing movement toward reclaiming waterways and regenerating riverfront areas. Totally Thames is one way of working toward that goal by making people appreciate the possibilities of waterfront areas.
