Mural Arts Philadelphia was originally established as part of an anti-graffiti program. Artists, community leaders, volunteers, students and other Philadelphians work together to make the organization a success and an integral part of the city’s landscape.
The mission of the program is to create art together to transform places, individuals, communities and institutions. The mural-making process is a tool for generating dialogue within the community while forging relationships and encouraging revitalization.
There are currently more than 3,600 murals in the city with more being commissioned. Public and private tours of the murals are available and can be booked on the Mural Arts website. Tours last about two hours and take place throughout the city. Book a private tour to customize your route. If you’d rather explore on your own, use the interactive Mural Finder map (https://map.muralarts.org) to discover the immense collection.
Support the program by participating in special programming or donate. Events and education programs take place year-round. Be sure to check the schedule for all the latest. Follow Mural Arts Philadelphia on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to learn more about recent developments with the program.
