Pumas don’t exactly have a reputation for being the friendliest of cats, but it turns out people like search for them nonetheless. If you’re one of those adventurous types who wants to see these wild animals in their native habitats, now’s your chance to track them in Patagonia.
Swoop, an adventure planning tourism company focused on Patagonia, has a unique opportunity to view these creatures with its Pumas in Patagonia tour. This trip takes you into the heart of the Torres del Paine National Park, which has an exceptionally high density of the cats hidden within. They’re hard to spot on your own, which is why signing up for a tour might be your best bet.
The group has a few different tours to choose from, lasting anywhere between four and six days. Whether you’re a photographer looking to capture these beauties in their natural environment or just want to spot a couple while venturing through the region, they’ve got something for you. Each tour starts from a hotel within the park that’ll serve as your home base, from which your guides will take you into the wild to discover pumas and some of Patagonia’s most breathtaking landscapes.
Tracking pumas isn’t cheap, so expect to throw down $2,000–5,000 on your adventure. Check out Swoop’s website for more information on the opportunities and to pick a safari that works for you.
