As one of Turkey’s oldest cities, Bursa has a wealth of historical and cultural activities to see and explore. If you’re only in town for one day you won’t be able to do it all, but we can help you get through the most important stuff.
Dining out in Bursa can be costly, so start your day with a pre-packaged breakfast at your hotel. Bring along a protein bar or something equally as simple and save a few dollars while you can.
Once you leave the hotel, mhead to the Grand Mosque, otherwise known as Ulu Camii, to explore the domed walls covered in calligraphy. The architecture is spectacular and it’s a peaceful way to start the day. It’s also free.
Afterward, make your way to Koza Hani, the central and original bazaar of Bursa. Here, you’ll find a seemingly endless array of shops and eateries, so be prepared to throw down about $30 on souvenirs and snacks.
Once done, go ahead and have some lunch at Demo. They offer up some delectable breakfast and lunch meals, from pancakes to pide, for a reasonable price. Expect to drop around $20 here.
In the afternoon, make your way over to the Tombs of Osman and Orhan. This slightly creepy site represents some of the city’s best heritage and is an insightful treat for those who have a love of history.
Finally, take the rest of the evening to see the views from above. Hit the Teleferik up to the nearby slopes just to see the surrounding landscape in all its glory. Even if you aren’t a fan of skiing, you’ll still be delighted by the ride up.
For dinner go ahead and check out Uzan Et Mangal. This Turkish steakhouse is a local favorite with a variety of foods to choose from, but you must try the lokum. It’s pricey, so plan to spend around $40.
